A new advanced battery system will be introduced in Detroit. According to the Detroit Free Press auto supplier Johnson Controls plans to introduce an advanced battery system, for the start-stop application in vehicles, at the North American International Auto Show.

Johnson Controls, who has formed a partnership with Toshiba, has made plans to discuss the battery system during media previews beginning on Monday. Toshiba is supplying cells to manufacture the new battery system that uses a lithium titanate battery. The system is scheduled to be released in 2018 and is said to improve fuel efficiency by 8%.
