The latest automaker to use something other than a traditional winter auto show to preview a new concept or model is Honda’s performance-luxury Acura brand. The venue is the annual Monterey Car Week, and the car is the Type S Concept. The Concept is a thinly vailed example of how the redesigned 2021 TLX will appear. Moreover, it marks the return of the vaulted Type S performance sub-brand to the Acura stable after over a decade’s absence. Acura says it a TLX Type S will be the first of two brands to wear the up level badge. There are some notable differences between the concept and production models such as door handles, side mirrors, and the wheel/tire combination, but the Type S Concept does set the tone for near future Acura styling with its flowing but edgier look.
