Arizona is apparently taking the lead in autonomous driving. Governor Doug Ducey has signed an executive order creating the Institute for Automated Mobility. It’s a collaboration of private sector companies, public officials and university researchers. They’ll focus on the science, safety and policies surrounding automated vehicles in a special facility designed to address a variety of real world scenarios. The Arizona Commerce Authority will oversee the institute. Arizona has been one of several places around the country where self-driving cars are being tested on the road.
