The seventh generation BMW 3 Series is moving closer to production.  Camouflaged prototypes of the new sedan have completed final chassis tuning at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife.  Engineers were watching how the new suspension, steering and braking systems handle the course.  BMW says they’re beefing up the “sports sedan” character of the car in a variety of ways, including enhancing rigidity levels of the body and suspension hard points.  As for power, the new 3 Series will get a revised 4-cylinder gasoline engine which the company says “is the most powerful 4-cylinder engine ever to be fitted in a BMW series production model”. It will be matched with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.
