Chrysler Taking Its Imported From Detroit Tagline One Step Further
Chrysler's "Imported from Detroit" tagline has been a huge success in both boosting the image of the struggling Motor City and celebrating Chrysler's comeback. Now the Auburn Hills automaker has announced plans to move 70 employees to offices in downtown Detroit. They will occupy the two top floors of the historic Dime Building at 719 Griswold Street, which has been renamed the Chrysler House. CEO Sergio Marchionne will have an office and a conference area in the building, but he will also maintain an office at Chrysler's headquarters in Auburn Hills.
While Chrysler in not moving a significant number of employees, the company's first-time ever presence in Detroit signifies a commitiment to the city that is coping with a double digit unemployment rate and lots of vacant office space. In a statement, Chrysler says, "Our soul will always be in Detroit." The photo was provided by Chrysler and is a computer-generated image of the new signage for the Chrysler House.
