Diesel Version Planned of Top Selling Chevrolet Cruze
It was the best-selling car in the U.S. last month, now, according to the Associated Press, there are plans to produce a diesel version of the popular Chevrolet Cruze. That would boost mileage to around 50 mpg, rivaling the Toyota Prius, which gets about 51 mpg in the city and 48 highway. The diesel Cruze isn't expected to go on sale until at least 2013, although no official statement has been made. About 25,000 Cruzes were sold in June, outpacing perennial top sellers Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. The base model of the Cruze now starts at $16,525. No word on what the diesel version might cost.
