Press days at the New York International Auto show officially began today, but some cars are just too big to wait for.  After weeks of teases, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was unveiled in New York last night.  Its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Demon V-8 engine puts out 840 horsepower and 770 lbs.-ft. of torque, and Dodge claims it takes just 2.3 seconds to go from 0-60.

The new Range Rover Velar also made an early arrival in New York, debuting last night at the Lincoln Center.  The fourth member of the Range Rover family fills the space between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport.  American customers can start ordering it today, but you’ll have to wait to drive it until late summer.

Lexus showed off the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F SPORT, a slightly higher performing version of the 2018 LS 500 that was unveiled earlier this year at Detroit.   In typical Lexus fashion, the F SPORT maintains the all of the luxury you would expect, but will up the sport factor marginally; by way of the VDIM (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management) chassis control system.

The crowd in New York also got a peak at the 2018 Acura TLX luxury sports sedan, with updated “Precision Crafted Performance” design. The new TLX V6 A-Spec is available in either front or all-wheel-drive.

Lincoln brought some full size luxury to New York with the 2018 Navigator.  Shedding about 200 pounds, and packing the Ford Raptor’s twin-turbo V6 with 450-horsepower; means this largest Lincoln will deliver plenty of performance along with its quietest cabin ever.

Buick is thinking bigger with the 2018 Enclave.  The seven-passenger midsize luxury SUV now has a longer wheel base, which means more legroom.  But the Enclave remains nimble with a 1.4 feet tighter turning circle.

MotorWeek is walking the beat in the NYC, so stay with us for updates throughout the day.
