The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are telling drivers of some vehicles to stop using cruise control until it can be repaired.  FCA is recalling about 4.8 million vehicles to fix a problem that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging.  NHTSA says if drivers find themselves in this situation they should step on the brake and place the vehicle in park when it comes to a stop.  They also say “drivers may also: 1) shift the transmission to neutral, 2) forcefully apply the manual brake, and 3) place the vehicle in park once stopped”.  FCA says they have a remedy and dealers will fix it for free.  They’ll begin contacting affected customers as early as next week to schedule appointments.  Customers can call the FCA US Recall Information Center at 866-220-6747.  Here’s a list of the vehicles affected by this recall:
