Volkswagen jumps out ahead of the LA Auto Show headlines with the Passat GT Concept.

The Passat GT gets styling updates and VW's 280-hp VR6 engine tied to a six-speed DSG. While still a potential addition to the Passat lineup, Volkswagen claims the GT is an example of what they see as the changing taste of North American sedan buyers.

Volkswagen claims "more than 20 design changes from the standard Passat mark the GT as a unique, eye-catching sedan," including black and red accent colors, bigger wheels, and a lowered ride height.

Inside features carbon fiber trim and a two-tone color scheme for the seats and dash.

As the Passat GT is a concept, there's no word if it will make it into production.
