The original pony car, and America’s best-selling sports car of the last fifty years, has just marked production of its 10 millionth unit, a 2019 Wimbledon White Mustang GT convertible. The first serialized Mustang (VIN 001), produced in 1964, was the same color and model, equipped with a 164-horsepower V8 and three-speed manual transmission. The 2019 milestone machine roared out of Ford’s Flat Rock, Michigan factory with 460 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. During its 54-year production run, Mustangs have also been assembled in California, New Jersey and the original Mustang plant in Dearborn, Michigan.
