Ford wants to do a deal to bring more electric cars to Chinese consumers.  The company has announced it’s working on developing a joint venture with Anhui Zotye Automobile.  Zotye Auto is well established in China, and was one of the first automakers to produce all-electric passenger vehicles in that country.  Ford expects the market for new energy vehicles will grow to six million units per year in China by 2025.  They’re predicting about 4 million of those vehicles will be all-electric.  Ford also has joint ventures with other Chinese automakers.

BMW is blending classic looks with a racing spirit.  The company unveiled the 2018 BMW M5.  The 6th generation high-performance sport sedan features a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 producing 600 hp and up to 553 lb-ft. of torque.  As is typical with xDrive, it defaults to all-wheel-drive at start up, but this is the first xDrive system with 2WD capability.  Early sales will include a First Edition model, 50 of which are coming to the US.
