Press days at the LA Auto Show are in the rearview mirror.  Now we’re looking ahead to the last winter version of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.  Apparently, so is Ford.  The company tweeted this engine shot of the highly anticipated all-new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.  It’s no secret it’s coming.  We’ve known this for about a year, but the company hasn’t said very much about exactly when we can see it.   Notice the date stamped on the engine… January 14, 2019.  That’s the first press day of the 2019 Detroit show.   The 700-plus horsepower supercharged V8 will be what Ford calls “the most powerful street-legal production Ford ever”.  For you history buffs, that’s twice as powerful as the original 1967 Mustang performance model. Stay tuned to MotorWeek for more on this and other previews leading up to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
