Ford’s Crown Victoria Retiring From Duty
It's the end of an era. Ford is retiring the Crown Victoria from duty. Sales to consumers ended in 2008, but the iconic cruiser was still sold to police departments. It's been facing some tough competition from rival police cars such as the Dodge Charger and the Chevrolet Caprice. Meantime, many police departments have decided to stock up on the Crown Vic. Through the first seven months of the year, sales are up 64 percent to 35,203. Ford's new line of patrol cars will be the Taurus and Explorer SUV Police Interceptors.
