With the excitement of press days at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in the rear view mirror, a big debate is now looming down the road.  Bloomberg is reporting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s proposal on how many miles to the gallon we get could come by the end of March.  Last year, the Department of Transportation and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency decided to take another look at fuel economy standards for cars and light-duty trucks finalized during the Obama administration.  Bloomberg quotes NHTSA Acting Administrator Heidi King as saying the proposed rule will be released on March 30, 2018.

McLaren is moving forward with carbon fiber.  The company has inaugurated a new Composites Technology Center.  To mark the occasion, a McLaren Senna did doughnuts on the new center’s floor.  McLaren has been using carbon fiber since 1981.  The new center will create lightweight carbon fiber Monocage structures for McLaren cars.
