Gibbs Quadski Travels on Land & Water
10.16.2012
It looks like something out of a James Bond movie. At first glance the Gibbs Quadski looks like an ordinary ATV, that’s until you see it transformed into a personal watercraft. Billed as the first high-speed sports amphibian available commercially, Gibbs clains the Quadski is capable of reaching 45 miles per hour on both land and water. With the touch of a button, the wheels deploy or retract in about five seconds.
“We’ve created an entirely new powersports category with our patented HSA technology. Quadski is especially designed for families and individuals who enjoy the outdoors, watersports, off-road travel, hunting and fishing,” said Neil Jenkins, Gibbs chairman and CEO. “It offers premium powersports buyers a combination of power, safety, comfort and versatility that has never been available before.”
Equipped with a BMW four-cylinder, water-cooled engine, the Quadski features electronic fuel injection, a double-overhead camshaft and dry-sump lubrication.
Manufactured in Michigan, the Quadski will retail for about $40,000 when it goes on sale here in the U.S. in November. Gibbs is a privately held company that develops and manufactures high-speed amphibian technology.
