Add General Motors to the growing list of automakers facing accusations about their diesel engines. Reuters is reporting GM is facing a lawsuit claiming the company “used at least three defeat devices" to get past government emissions standards.  They report the lawsuit centers around more than 705,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups with Duramax engines. The model years were between 2011 and 2016.  GM released a statement saying, "These claims are baseless and we will vigorously defend ourselves.  The Duramax Diesel Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra comply with all U.S. EPA and CARB emissions regulations."

Interested in an electric car, but wincing at the price?  Be patient.  Bloomberg New Energy Finance says electric vehicles will cost less than conventional counterparts by 2030.  They’re predicting the price of batteries will fall dramatically between now and then.  They say batteries account for about half the price of EVs.

BMW is unveiling a new concept: 8 Series Coupe.  It’s on display at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy this weekend.  BMW says the production version is scheduled to be launched next year.
