GM has decided to take full responsibility for the eight cars that were swallowed in a sink hole that developed under the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky earlier this week.  Though Chevrolet will chaperon the reconstruction of the Corvettes, the process will be overseen by Ed Welbum, vice president of General Motors Design in Warren, Mich. The best approach to repair the Corvette classics will be determined in a specialty shop inside GM Design. The GM design team has taken part in many car restorations, but this project is their biggest task so far. "There can only be one 1-millionth Corvette ever built," he said, referring to one of the damaged cars. "We want to ensure as many of the damaged cars are restored as possible so fans from around the world can enjoy them" said Mark Reuss, GM’s head of global product development.
