Mazda is looking far into the future with a new engine.  The company has announced their next-generation engine called SKYACTIV-X. MotorWeek first told you yesterday about the new compression ignition engine. Here’s how it works: the fuel-air mixture ignites spontaneously when compressed by the piston. Mazda says it will be the world's first commercial gasoline engine to use the technology, and will improve engine efficiency up to 30-percent over the current SKYACTIV-G. Look for the SKYACTIV-X in 2019.  That’s also the year Mazda says they’ll start introducing electric vehicles and other electric driving technologies.
