MotorWeek Gets First Look at 2013 Fiat 500e
MotorWeek associate producer Ben Davis just returned from California where he got to test drive the 2013 Fiat 500e through the streets of Beverly Hills. The 500e is Fiat’s first electric vehicle and will initially be sold only in California beginning the second quarter of 2013. With an EPA-estimated driving range of 87 miles, the Fiat 500e lithium-ion battery can be replenished in less than 4 hours with a 240-volt charger. Calling it a “serious contender” in the electric vehicle market, Fiat says the all-new, battery-electric powertrain delivers 111 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. The EPA estimates it will cost $500 (coincidentally) to power the Fiat 500e annually.
