The EV market just got more interesting.  Polestar has revealed the new Polestar 2.  It’s the performance brand’s first fully electric car and first volume model.  The premium five-door fastback is powered by two electric motors generating 408 hp and 487 lb-ft. of torque.  The company says that should take you 0-to-62 in less than 5 seconds. The 78 kWh battery allows for a targeted range of 310 miles.  As we’ve seen in other EV’s, the 27-module battery pack is part of the floor.  Polestar 2 is based on Volvo Car Group’s adaptable Compact Modular Architecture platform.

Naturally there’s a lot of tech with this premium compact EV.  Phone-as-Key technology can sense the driver as they’re approaching the car.  It also lends to the car’s capability in evolving driving trends like car sharing.

Polestar 2 will make its first public appearance at the Geneva International Motor Show next week.  Production begins in early 2020.   The price of the launch edition is $63,000.  With the $ 7,500 federal incentive the price drops to $55,500.
