The All-New 2018 Subaru Crosstrek (VIDEO)
MotorWeek is first on the scene in Deadwood, South Dakota driving the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek.
The all-new Crosstrek is the second model to be built on the new Subaru Global Platform. The rugged hatchback incorporates signature Subaru looks, like the hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights, but you'll notice a more sculpted body on this second-generation.
The 2.0L 4-cylinder boxer engine puts out 152-hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. A manual transmission is standard in both the base and Premium trims, with this generation offering a 6-speed instead of the previous 5-speed.
Just 0.6-inches longer and 0.9-inches wider than the previous generation, the 2018 Crosstrek maintains much of its size, but adds a roomier cabin. With adventure on the mind of most Subaru customers, the fact that the tailgate opens 4-inches wider makes for easier access in throwing gear in the back.
Boasting 8.7-inches of ground clearance, drivers will be able to hit the backroads as soon as the 2018 Crosstrek rolls into dealerships in early August, with a price tag starting at $22,710.
Stay tuned to MotorWeek for more on the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek coming soon!
