Two Japanese companies are joining forces to shape the future of mobility. Toyota and SoftBank will work together to create new mobility services. The deal includes setting up a joint venture company called MONET Technologies Corporation. The collaboration will draw on technology from Toyota's Mobility Services Platform and SoftBank's Internet of Things Platform. Initially they plan to provide what’s known as on-demand transportation for public agencies and private companies. Not too far into the future, they hope to create an autonomous mobility as a service which could include delivering meals and providing hospital shuttles. Right now their plans are only for Japan, but they hope to expand globally.
