Americans like their trucks, and the numbers prove it. Automotive News is reporting as a segment, U.S. light-truck sales grew 7.7 percent in 2018. Their calculations come to 11.98 million trucks. They say light trucks now make up 69 percent of the market. That’s a record. As for car sales, they were down 13-percent last year. It’s not really that surprising. Many trucks can do double duty, handling hauling by day, with creature comforts inside for a night out on the town. It’s still early in the new year, and economists have a variety of predictions about what’s ahead. We can be certain the truck wars will heat up with the arrival of the Ford Ranger this month. While Chevrolet will bring new trim levels to the Silverado later this year.
