Gridlock on the daily commute is a fact of life for many of us. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken a step toward easing congesting. His Boring Company revealed the first section of an underground tunnel in Hawthorne, California is complete. The idea is to move people and vehicles through underground tunnels. Elevators connect the congested surface to the underground fast lane. Reuters reports the 1.14-mile segment measures about 12 feet in diameter and cost about $10 million. Musk has big plans for this venture. The Boring Company is working on an underground public transportation system running from O’Hare Airport and downtown Chicago.
