Volkswagen Expects Significant Increase in Beetle Sales to Men
Volkswagen expects a more masculine looking Beetle to signifcantly increase the number of male buyers when the redesigned icon hits U.S. showrooms in September. The new look includes a lower profile, substantially wider stance, a longer front hood, and a windshield at a much steeper incline. The Beetle, starts at $18,995, while the Turbo begins at $23,395. Women have traditionally been the driving force behind U.S. sales of the Beetle, accounting for more than 65 percent of buyers. Volkswagen's goal with the 2012 Beetle is to have men make up 50 percent of U.S. sales.
