Our success story this week takes us to Plainfield, Vermont, where frying food serves up fuel!

Black bear biodiesel takes waste cooking oil from area restaurants and resorts, and recycles it into biodiesel. In 2016, they collected 100,000 gallons of used oil.

Renewable biodiesel can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 75 percent.

Working with Vermont clean cities and other partners, the hope is more will get on the menu with biodiesel.

JIM MALLOY: “It’s one of the beautiful things that the Clean Cities organization has helped foster, is this trust that we have within our working group that we are not competitors, we see ourselves as allies.”

Black Bear Biodiesel is the only public access in Vermont to 100 percent biodiesel, which can be used off-road, and blended for on road use. Helping the Green Mountain state grow greener still.
