Our Success Story this week profiles an off-site airport shuttle bus company in Atlanta, Georgia. During the last year, The Parking Spot has added 31 compressed natural gas buses to their 3 lots near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport last year. The Parking Spot worked with the Clean Cities Atlanta Coalition to make the switch to the cleaner burning fuel. As part of the teaming arrangement, the Department of Energy provided funding assistance to help pay for the buses and to build six new CNG fueling stations in Metro Atlanta including the one used by The Parking Spot at College Park. Company officials say they’re saving over 30 percent in annual fuel costs with the new vehicles, displacing almost 200,000 some gallons of petroleum annually. It’s a “good spot” to be in as the company considers adding more alternative fuel buses to other Parking Spot locations around the country.
