2012 Ford Focus
Ford's global C-Class car picture has just become a lot clearer with the 2012 Ford Focus. Developed in Europe, the new Focus compact will be built here in the U.S. as both a 4-door sedan and 5-door hatch. The look is sportier than before, along the lines of the Fiesta, with a face that's definitely in your face. Sleek lines and bulging fenders give it an athletic stance.
The interior sees the biggest improvement. Material quality is better than most in the segment, and upscale Ford features like MyFord Touch and personalized L.E.D. info screens are available. An all-new, 2-liter direct injection 4-cylinder provides the power with a choice of either 5-speed manual or 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. A Super Fuel Economy option buys a Government Highway rating of 40 MPG, with the automatic.
Handling is also vastly improved, with sharp, crisp steering and minimal body roll. Torque Vectoring Control reduces under steer by acting like a limited slip differential and dividing power between the front wheels. The new Focus bows this spring with sedan starting at just under $17,000, and the 5-door hatch coming in about 2 grand more.
