If there’s one thing that Buick has going for it lately, it’s how exceptionally quiet and comfortable their vehicles are. Okay, that’s actually two things, but both are major highlights of this 2018 Buick Enclave.

Buick’s biggest crossover utility is all-new for ’18, and about two-inches longer, though it still shares its basic platform with the shorter GMC Acadia and similar sized Chevrolet Traverse. 3-rows of SUV seating are standard; as are a 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 and a 9-speed automatic.

That combo delivers plenty of power, with decisive operation from the transmission; though we could do without the cumbersome electronic shifter.

Enclave also ushers in Buick’s new Avenir luxury sub-brand; which takes what is already a nicely upgraded interior a step further.

GREG CARLOSS: “First things first with this Buick Enclave, it drives extremely well on the highway; take your family on a long vacation, this is the kind of ride you want, supple, smooth. Yeah, it doesn’t handle corners great, but it doesn’t have to.”

JOHN DAVIS: If sportier performance is a priority, available real-time damping with Sport mode reduces body roll while maintaining that ultra-smooth ride.

2018 Buick Enclave pricing starts just over $40,000, and they’re arriving at dealerships now.
