Having grown up in a farming community where trucks are bought on the cheap, used hard, and then passed on to someone else to treat equally hard, the thought of $50,000 pickup trucks seems odd to me.

But, there are plenty of people out there looking to drop that kind of coin on a truck, and GM will be happy to oblige them with a pair of new options.

The GMC Sierra Denali has been around for a few years now, but an all-new one has now arrived joining the already available all-new for ’14 GMC Sierra.

The new name to join the party is the Chevrolet Silverado High Country. Both luxo-trucks use the same formula of unique trim and wheels outside, better materials inside; and both come standard with a 5.3-liter V8.  But, at the press launch in Austin, Texas, this was our first opportunity to sample GM’s biggest of the new-gen small blocks, the 420-horsepower 6.2-liter.

BRIAN ROBINSON: The 6.2-liter is incredibly smooth and fairly quiet in both of these high dollar haulers; and I’m not sure why you would need any more power.”

Stay tuned to MotorWeek for more on both of these trucks before they go on sale in November.
