Acura has released official pricing for the 2022 MDX Type S SUV-- claiming that the new model will reach dealerships early next week.

The Type S is a performance-geared version of Acura’s flagship SUV, equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and sport-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission. Together, they put down 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft. of torque.

For the 2022 model year, the MDX Type S will be available in two versions. The standard Type S, with destination fees included, starts at $67,745. An available “Advance Package” will up the MSRP to $73,095.

Standard on either Type S is the MDX all-wheel drive system, which can be digitally adjusted with Acura’s Integrated Dynamics System; it features seven modes, including the Type S-exclusive Sport+ and ride height lift modes. Suspension lifting is achieved by an adaptive air suspension setup with adaptive dampers. The adaptive dampers come preset with three different Type S-specific profiles.

21-inch wheels shield the red four-piston Brembo front brakes and 14.3-inch rotors. The front of the 2022 Type S is defined by a new front fascia and “Diamond Pentagon” grille, improving cooling. The car is flanked by quad exhaust tips, hiding the Type S adjustable exhaust valves.

The Advance Package steps it up with massaging driver and front passenger seats (an Acura first), a 25-speaker ELS Studio 3D sound system with illuminated door speakers, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, Acoustic laminated rear door glass and a hands-free power tailgate.

The 2022 Acrua MDX Type S is one of three new Acura Type S models to debut this year, and marks the first time the Type S moniker has been used on an Acura SUV.
