BMW has unveiled their first high-performance, fully-electric utility vehicle: the iX M60.

Building off the BMW’s iX Sport Activity Vehicle and serving as a milestone for the group, the iX M60 signifies BMW M’s entry into the electric performance industry.

The vehicle is powered by an all-wheel drive, dual-motor setup, capable of up to 610 brake horsepower and 811 lb-ft. of torque when Launch Control is activated. With the “Sport” driving mode selected, BMW claims the iX M60 is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, with a maximum speed of 155 mph.

BMW has selected a 111.5 kWh battery to power the ix M60, boasting a preliminary EPA estimated range of 280 miles. Maximum DC charging is up to 195 kW, with a 10-80 percent charge taking approximately 35 minutes. The battery sits low in the vehicle’s structure and within the wheelbase in order to maintain a lower center of gravity.

The iX M60 sits atop a specially M-enhanced adaptive dual-axle air suspension. This system allows for both comfort and handling when the need arises, selecting the optimal ride height for the situation at hand, regardless of vehicle load.

The new M60 is built upon BMW’s new future modular system, which allows for expansion in the areas of automated driving, operation, connectivity and digital services. A new generation of parking sensors and software are expected to aid in autonomous functionality.

Exterior styling on the iX M60 is relatively clean with special M details, including blue-painted calipers with the M logo and optional Titanium Bronze M Logos on the rear of the vehicle. Consumers will have a choice between seven colors: Alpine White, Dark Graphite Metallic, Phytonic Blue Metallic, Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic, Oxide Grey Metallic and Aventurin Red Metallic.

Standard equipment includes Ambient Lighting, BMW’s Assist eCall and TeleServices, ConnectedDrive Services, a Power Liftgate, a Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof, a heated steering wheel, front and rear heated seats and armrests, a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround System, and more.

The first iX M60’s are expected to launch in the United States sometime in June 2022, with a starting price of $106,095 after destination and handling fees.
