2024 Chevrolet Trax ACTIV

The Chevrolet Trax will be temporarily absent from the Bowtie’s lineup for the 2023 model year, returning for ‘24 with a second-generation launch.

The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is poised to reenter the market with a new lease on life, sharper and more athletic than the outgoing model. Not only that, but the Trax will also retail at a pretty attractive price: $21,495 before any destination fees. Better yet, the top-trim Trax only caps out at $24,995.

There are set to be five trims for consumers to choose from. The entry-level LS, followed by the 1RS and LT. The 2RS and ACTIV both retail for the aforementioned $24,995. No matter which is selected, under the hood is a 1.2-liter turbocharged inline-three cylinder engine, creating 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. Adding to its athletic character is a new stance, now resting 4-inches lower than the outgoing model.

Dimensionally speaking, the 2nd-gen Trax rides on a new 106.3-inch wheelbase, nearly 6-inches longer, carrying a 178.6-inch long body that’s 11-inches longer than before. It’s also 2-inches wider, now filling out 71.7-inches across. We suspect this growth will make the interior more roomy, as Chevrolet has advertised 3-inches more of rear legroom.

The cabin is also enhanced by tech. While the LS and 1RS come packaged with a standard 8-inch infotainment screen, the LT, 2RS and ACTIV come with an 11-inch display and an 8-inch driver information center. In either case, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is possible. On top of that, all models come with Chevy Safety Assist, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, auto high-beams and a following distance indicator.

The 2024 Trax is expected to make landfall in the spring of 2023, and we’ll have more on it here at MotorWeek.
