General Motors has announced pricing and tow rating for the diesel powered Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon mid-size trucks that are set to go on sale this fall. Available as a crew cab in 4X2 or 4X4 configuration, the Colorado will start at $31,700, while the Canyon will be base priced at $33,200.

Power will be from the new 2.8-liter Duramax diesel with ratings of 181-hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Tow rating for the diesel is 7,700 lbs, or 700 lbs more than the available 3.6-liter gasoline fueled V6. It is anticipated that Highway fuel economy rating for the new trucks will be 30 MPG or more, thus higher than the Ram 1500 diesel’s 29 MPG.
