MotorWeek's Greg Carloss is first on the scene in Santa Barbara, California driving the 2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell.

Honda plans to reveal battery-powered (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Clarity models at the New York Auto Show in April.  For now, we're driving the Clarity Fuel Cell that runs on Hydrogen and emits only water.

Hydrogen is stored inside two separate tanks located behind and beneath the rear seat, while the fuel cell has been moved under the hood to make the Clarity a true 5-passenger sedan.

Total output is 174-horsepower and 221-lb.ft of torque with an EPA certified range of 366 miles.

Honda has recently begun distributing the Clarity to its customers with a 3 year, 20,000 mile lease at $369 per month with $15,000 given to cover fuel costs.
