American car manufacturer Fisker showcased their all-electric Ocean SUV, along with its state of the art radar and driver assistance systems, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Fisker Ocean will come equipped with an “Advanced Driver Assistance System” (ADAS), which utilizes multiple market-leading cameras, five Fisker Digital Radars and driver-monitoring systems to provide a suite of active safety systems, dubbed “Fisker Intelligent Pilot.” All trim levels of the Fisker Ocean will be equipped with Fisker Digital Radar hardware.

The onboard ADAS platform consists of four specific types of sensors: a surround-view camera suite, a camera-based driver-monitoring system, ultrasonic technology and a Digital-Imaging Radar System, which Fisker believes will be the first of it's kind to enter the market when Ocean production begins November 2022.

Fisker’s Digital Code Modulation-based radar, an industry-first, utilizes five radar units positioned around the vehicle. These allow the cameras to confirm and enhance what they see, relaying more accurate information to driver and vehicle alike, including the size, shape and speeds of surrounding objects. The system is also capable of better distinguishing objects in high light and dark contrast conditions, such as bridges and tunnels

The driver-monitoring system uses an A-pillar mounted interior camera, designed to monitor drowsiness and concentration. Together, these systems are intended to work together to create a safer experience for vehicle occupants on highways, in city traffic and in poor weather.

“Fisker Intelligent Pilot and Fisker Digital-Imaging combine reliable ADAS cameras with first-to-market 4D digital radars, giving owners industry-leading safety to go along with a $37,499 price for the Fisker Ocean Sport and over 350 miles of all-electric range for the top-of-the-line Fisker Ocean Extreme and Fisker Ocean One launch edition,” said Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker.

Other features of the system include “Park My Car,” an automated parking spot finder, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Reverse Collision Mitigation, Evasive Steering Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change and Keep Assist, Speed Assist, and more.

The full suite of Fisker Intelligent Pilot comes standard on the $68,999 Ocean Extreme and Ocean One, while Sport and Ultra trims will come equipped with the full ADAS hardware system and a subset of the software enabled, with additional features to be provided for all Oceans via over-the-air (OTA) updates.
