Ford’s $45 Million investment in advanced materials, design tools and 3D-printed car parts has taken root in the newly opened Advanced Manufacturing Center in Redford, Michigan. There, 3D printers are already spinning out production-ready brake parts for the upcoming Shelby Mustang GT500.  Engineers use virtual reality to design and simulate future production lines, and advanced robots work collaboratively with humans to refine safe, efficient, vehicle assembly techniques.  Technologies developed here will soon make their way into Ford production facilities worldwide.
