Genesis First Electric Vehicle, GV60, Launches in US
Genesis Motor America has opened sales for its first all-electric vehicle, the 2023 GV60 SUV. The new model not only serves as the brand’s first EV, but as the first step in their electrification goals. The all-electric GV80 sedan is expected to launch this summer, and Genesis has planned to offer an exclusively-electric lineup by 2030. The GV60 comes standard with all-wheel drive functionality; the first of two trims, the GV60 Advanced AWD, utilizes a 74 kW front motor and 160 kW rear motor, combining for a total of 314 horsepower. They’re powered by a 77.4 kWh battery, providing an estimated 248 miles of range. Stepping up to the second trim, the Performance AWD, means the 160 kW motor is placed both forward and aft, making for a combined 429 horsepower (or 483 horses in “Boost Mode”). Estimated range sees a slight decrease to 235 miles. According to Genesis, the GV60 is able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes when using the 350 kW “ultra-speed” charging function. Through a partnership announced alongside the vehicle’s launch, Electrify America is offering three years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions. Stations can be located on the road through Genesis Connected Services, as well as the Electrify America mobile apps. The GV60 Advanced AWD starts at $59,980, which includes the $1,090 freight fee; the performance model will start at $68,980.
