Genesis will be offering what luxury customers are demanding these days… an SUV.  The company has released pictures of their first SUV, the GV80.  Genesis says the “V” stands for versatility.  Until this point, the new luxury brand has only offered a line-up of three sedans, the G70, G80 and G90.

We’ve known Genesis had plans for an SUV ever since we saw the concept at the 2017 New York International Auto Show.  Immediately you’ll notice the GV80 wears the crest grille that debuted on their flagship sedan the G90 at the LA Auto Show just a few weeks ago.  The grille is flanked by quad lamps.  The interior is a blend of modern minimalism with a rotating electronic gear selector, fewer physical buttons, a new touch screen climate control, and slim air vents.  The emphasis on width is a design feature they’ve shown in their sedans.

As for the specifications, we’ll have to wait a few weeks for those.  We do know the GV80 will have a new rear-wheel-drive platform, and an optional third row.

The 2020 Genesis GV80 goes on sale in Korea this month, with other global markets to follow.
