The Honda Civic Si has always been known as a trim level geared toward fun in a functional, affordable package. The 2022 refresh doesn’t stray far from the winning formula Honda has banked on for years, with the new Si coming in at $27,300 MSRP.

The sub-$30,000 bracket is a great place for an entry-level car like the Civic Si to be. Even once the 2022 Civic Si makes its way into your local dealership, expect an additional $1,015 destination charge, bringing the MSRP up to $28,315 or $28,515 with summer tires-- still beneath the big 3-0.

Budget-oriented enthusiasts will be glad to hear that the affordability does not come at the sacrifice of fun or function. The sporty compact sedan will feature an updated 1.5-liter 4-cylinder paired to a reengineered 6-speed manual, with 10 percent shorter throws and the same rev-matching system found in the Civic Type-R. Together, they now deliver 192 lb-ft. of peak torque between 1,800 and 5,000 RPM, with a 6,500 RPM redline. Retuned suspension-- stiffer springs, firmer dampers, thicker anti-roll bars and a limited-slip differential-- adds an extra layer of control in the corners. For an additional $200, the gloss black wheels will come wrapped in summer tires.

Sportiness does not subside inside the cabin, with sport seats,  race red accents across the dash and matching stitches across the doors, wheel, shift boot and knob. The 2022 Civic Si will also feature a 7-inch gauge cluster and a 9-inch HD color touchscreen-- Apple Carplay and Android Auto available. Standard in the Si is a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system.

All that speed means safety is a top priority, and Honda’s cutting-edge safety technology introduced with the 11th generation Civic makes its way into the Si. Drivers will be aided by the Honda Sensing suite, which includes Traffic Sign Recognition and a driver attention monitor.
