The L.A. Auto Show is the scene for Green Car Journal’s annual announcement of the Green Car of the Year Award. We were on site as the 2019 Honda Insight took home the title of 2019 Green Car of the Year.

Honda takes home the award for the fourth time beating out the Volkswagen Jetta, Lexus 300h, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Avalon Hybrid. The Insight is a dedicated hybrid sedan that returned to the market this year. For more information on the 2019 Honda Insight, check out our Road Test.

Green SUV of the Year went to the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which stood out to jurors in a crowd that included the Hyundai Kona, Lexus UX, Volvo XC40 and Cadillac XT4. It’s quite a win for Mitsubishi and is due largely to its efficient plug-in hybrid platform.

On the luxury side of things, the Jaguar I-PACE all-electric SUV beat out the Tesla Model 3, Audi e-tron, Porsche Cayenne e-hybrid, and Range Rover P400e for the 2019 Luxury Green Car of the Year. We recently tested the I-PACE and were thoroughly impressed with Jaguar’s execution. See our Road Test here.
