Honda has unveiled details and imagery of the 2023 CR-V SUV, debuting with a new look and updated hybrid offerings for the 2023 model year.

The new CR-V is built with a self-described “rugged and sophisticated design,” which carries across all four trim levels. The new CR-V is built with longer and wider proportions than the outgoing model.

Specifically, we’re looking at 2.7-inches in additional length, a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase and just 0.4-inches of extra width. This broader stance gives off a more rugged appearance, said to be inspired by the latest Ridgeline and Passport TrailSport models. The outer shell of the new CR-V features a large, upright grille, bookended by standard LED headlights. The Sport and Sport Touring models will offer more aggressive styling up front and in back, including gloss black accents and rectangular exhaust finishers.

Speaking of, the Sport and Sport Touring will both feature a new 4th-generation two-motor hybrid system. At its core is a 2.0-liter inline-four, paired up with two electric motors mounted side-by-side. Combined, they dish out 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. The CR-V EX and EX-L are moved by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, displacing 190 horses and 179 lb-ft of torque. Available on all grades and standard on the Sport Touring is Honda’s updated Real Time AWD system, which can send up to 50 percent of torque to the rear wheels.

The interior is larger and more upscale than before, offering slightly more rear legroom and the most cargo room in any CR-V to date: 36.3 cubic-feet behind the rear seats, expandable to 76.5 cubic-feet with the 60/40 folding seats. On the tech side of things, a touchscreen with smartphone integration is standard (7-inches on the EX and Sport, 9-inches on the SX-L and Sport Touring), as is an all-digital tachometer on the EX and EX-L; Sport and Sport Tourings receive a digital power flow meter.

The 2023 Honda CR-V will launch this summer, though the Hybrid model will launch later this year. There’s so much to cover and we’ll have it all here on MotorWeek!
