Jaguar Land Rover announced that Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant will be made available across all new and existing vehicles equipped with the Pivi Pro infotainment system.

Alexa will enable drivers to control a wide array of functions through voice commands, even without a smartphone. The virtual assistant is said to integrate “seamlessly” with the Pivi Pro infotainment software, made available to more than 200,000 existing owners of compatible models. The software will be updatable via over-the-air updates and it will be offered to customers at no additional cost.

Some of the headlining functions of the Pivi Pro/Alexa crossover include voice control over navigation and music, being able to make calls and manage calendars, listen to the news and check weather, and control connected smart home devices.

Models equipped with the Touch Pro infotainment system can utilize the Jaguar and Land Rover Remote Skill for Alexa. Using any Alexa-enabled device, owners will be able to connect, control, and check in on their vehicles. Owners will be able to ask Alexa about their vehicle’s range, climate settings, door locks and more.

Eligible models will receive notifications for updates through their vehicle’s touchscreen. Customers can link their Alexa account to their “InControl” account by scanning a QR code and following the provided instructions.
