Lotus Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Special Branding

In 1948, British designer and engineer Colin Chapman built his first car: A modified Austin 7, dubbed the “Mark I” before entering local trials. The Mark I was tinkered on in Hornsey, London, in a lock-up garage belonging to the parents of Chapman’s girlfriend, Hazel. Several models and about four years later, this tinkering turned into the humble origins of Lotus, now a renowned sports car manufacturer and motorsports legend. To celebrate this milestone, the automaker has unveiled new 75th anniversary branding and discussed the brand's future. “The pioneering spirit and commitment of Colin and Hazel Chapman is alive and kicking in Lotus today, and we will be celebrating our 75th anniversary in style – paying tribute to the past and looking ahead to the future as we approach our first century,” said Matt Windle, Group Vice President and Managing Director of Lotus Cars.
