Mazda North America has announced pricing and packaging updates for the 2022 Mazda3 compact car, available as either a hatchback or sedan.

The entry trim for the Mazda3 is the “2.0” level, available only as a sedan. It features a front-wheel drive 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, outputting 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft. of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2.0, along with the rest of the Mazda3 lineup, is standard equipped with i-Activsense safety features, including Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Keeping Assist, and High Beam Control. The interior of the 2.0 is headlined by an 8.8-inch center display hosting the Mazda Connect suite of infotainment features.

After the $1,015 destination and handling fee applied to all trims (or $1,060 for those in Alaska), the Mazda3 2.0 will have a window sticker price of $21,815.

The next grade up is the “2.5 S,” the first level in which the Mazda3 hatchback is available for the 2022 model year. This level also sees the inclusion of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, bumping power up to 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft. of torque. Along with all the standard features of the 2.0, the 2.5 S is packaged with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and starts at $22,765. The hatchback will run up an additional $1,000 across almost all models.

Next is the “2.5 S Select,” the first trim where the US market-exclusive “Platinum Quartz Metallic” color is available. The Select also gains Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Mazda Advanced keyless Entry, door mirror turn signals, and a few other interior accoutrements; back leatherette seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel at the forefront, with rear armrests and cup holders taking the back seat. It will start at $24,115.

A step up to the “2.5 S Preferred” allows customers to option their Mazda3 as either front or all-wheel drive. Included in this package is also a power moonroof, heated front seats, and an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat with lumbar support and memory functionality. Exterior styling is mixed up by way of a gloss black grille and matching door mirrors. The Preferred trim starts at $25,765 for a FWD sedan; $27,165 for an AWD sedan. In both cases, the hatchback will add an additional $1,000 to the sticker.

A special “2.5 S Carbon Edition” is making it’s way to the 2022 Mazda3. This trim is only offered in Polymetal Gray with a red leather interior. Along with features from the Preferred level, a Bose 12-speaker system is added to the Carbon Edition, along with aluminum speaker grilles, black 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels and gloss black heated door mirrors. Available as either a hatchback or sedan (but only FWD), the Carbon Edition starts at $27,415.

The Mazda3 “2.5 S Premium” adds the 12-speaker Bose system from the Carbon Edition to the Preferred Package, as well as a windshield-projected heads-up display, Mazda Navigation, paddles shifters and LED headlights. This is also only trim where a 6-speed manual transmission is available-- as an option for FWD hatchbacks only. The Premium starts as a FWD sedan for $28,765, but the manual hatchback will start at $29,365 (again, after destination fees).

And lastly, the Mazda3 will be available in two different Turbo variants: the “2.5 Turbo” and “2.5 Turbo Premium Plus.” Both are only available as AWD with a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine capable of 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque (on 93 octane). The former ditches leather seats and the Mazda Navigation system from the Premium, but retains most other features. It gains exclusive “turbo” badging and larger tailpipes. This turbo trim starts at $31,565.

Turbo-admirers can spring for the Premium Plus variant, which includes the Premium’s leather seats and navigation-- plus exclusive black aero accents. The sedan will receive a rear spoiler and the hatchback will get a rear roof spoiler and front air dam. More safety features are added to the i-Activsense safety suite, too. This is the top of the 2022 Mazda3 line, and as such it starts at $34,115; the hatchback runs an additional $1,300.

Four premium paint colors available on certain trims were also priced; $595 for Soul Red Crystal Metallic and Machine Gray Metallic, and $395 for Polymetal Gray Metallic and Snowflake White Pearl.
