Mercedes has recently pulled back the curtain on their EQE SUV, an all-electric utility spinoff of their EQE executive sedan,  with AMG following with their own take on the new model.

The EQE SUV will be available as either a rear- or all-wheel drive version, capable of a range of up to about 342 miles on a full charge. This is, presumably, for the rear-wheel drive model, though Mercedes did say that the vehicle’s battery management software accepts over-the-air update, meaning potential range improvements could be seen. Charging the EQE SUV is a 9.6 kW onboard charger, and can accept a maximum 170 kW DC fast charging.

The EQE SUV is more compact than the EQE sedan, with a 119.3-inch wheelbase– 3.5-inches shorter. Overall, the SUV is 191.5-inches long, 76.4-inches wide and 66.4-inches tall. The optional AIRMATIC air suspension can increase ground clearance by an extra inch, and the optional rear axle steering can make things a little tighter in the corners.

The new model is unsurprisingly luxurious and tech-savvy, hosting a suite of features and creature comforts we’d be shocked to see left off. For example, the “Electric Intelligence” navigation helps plot an optimized course with various factors, like chargers and traffic, taken into account. A “Serene Breeze” sound experience provides natural sounds to fill the audible void created by electric propulsion.

2024 AMG EQE SUV

But for a little more adrenaline, prospective drivers may want to consider the AMG version. It is 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive only, utilizing two electric motors providing up to 677 horsepower with the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package, 617 without. AMG air suspension and rear axle steering is standard, as is AMG-specific roll stabilization.

Of course, the exterior is marked by some unique touches, including the black radiator grille and chrome vertical struts. The hood’s Mercedes star is replaced by the AMG emblem, further signifying its performance roots. There are other AMG-specific notes, like the wheel arch claddings, 21- or 22-inch wheels, and front splitter. The cabin is denoted by some key highlights, like the Nappa leather, flat-bottomed steering wheel and AMG sport pedals, floor mats and door sills. MB-Tex upholstery with red stitching is standard, though Nappa leather seating can be optioned; in either case, expect to find the AMG moniker used liberally throughout.

The EQE SUV will be built at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, slated to begin this December. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
