Kia’s entry-level Seltos compact utility debuted at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto show with some refreshed styling, extra power and more technology.

This is the new 2024 model, expected to reach showrooms sometime in the first half of 2023. It arrived on stage in Pluton Blue, which helped emphasize some of the changes Kia made to the outside.

The most noticeable changes are upfront, specifically the larger “tiger nose” grille and available full-projection LED headlights, matched by vertical fog lights integrated with the daytime running lights. The front bumper sees more rigid shaping, making it appear with “a more confident and rugged stance.” An available “Star Map” lighting feature creates a distinct image across the front grille. The rear also sees some new design lingo. That includes the taillights, backup lamp and rear reflector on the bottom edge.

The Seltos is powered by one of two engines: A revised 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The former has gained an extra 20 horsepower, now producing 195 total; power is passed through an eight-speed automatic. The 2.0-liter puts out 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, sent through an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). All-wheel drive is available, packed with a center locking differential that can split power equally front and rear for better performance in worse conditions.

Inside is an available panoramic screen combining the 10.25-inch infotainment screen with the equally sized instrument cluster. New dash trim is said to keep the interior vibes inline with the horizontal design cues used outside. Expect more connectivity by way of four USB ports throughout the cabin and more available services like Digital Key 2 Touch and over-the-air updates.

And lastly, the 2024 Seltos will be the latest Kia to get a new X-Line trim. This means an exclusive front grille– gunmetal in finish– along with unique 18-inch wheels, a black bridge-type roof rack, gloss black door garnishes and, of course, X-Line badging.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but we imagine it’ll stay relatively close to the 2023 Seltos price range, starting around $23K and ending just below $30K.
