It’s tougher to earn the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but 15 vehicles made the cut for 2018.  The IIHS added passenger-side crash ratings for the first time.  They also now require good-rated headlights to get on the list.  Hyundai and Subaru had the most cars recognized across the categories.  The IIHS has been recognizing vehicles with a TOP SAFETY PICK since the 2006 model year.  They added the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award with the 2013 model year.  You can check out the full list here.

Ford is reportedly moving some work to Mexico.  Automotive News says they’ve obtained an internal memo that calls for moving production of an electric crossover from Michigan to Mexico.  They report that would allow Ford to make more investments in autonomous vehicles in Michigan.  Automotive News says production of Ford’s new electric crossover will begin in 2020.
