Lamborghini is taking off from the beaten path with the new Huracán Sterrato, recently presented at Art Basel, Miami Beach.

The Sterrato is designed to take the fun and adrenaline of owning a super sports car, like the Huracán, and combine it with the mud-slinging, sand-shuffling excitement you’d get out of a rally car. That being said, Lamborghini claims the Sterrato is still very much capable of highway cruising; “optimized driving dynamics for perfect control in all environments.”

It’s a bold claim, and it all starts with Lamborghini’s 5.2-liter V10 engine, producing 601 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Lambo aficionados may have already noted that this is a loss of power from the regular Huracán, which puts out 631 horsepower, though torque remains the same. It’s channeled to the all-wheel drive system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission; the drivetrain is further aided by a rear mechanical self-locking differential. It all adds up to a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds, reaching top speeds of 160 mph.

The Sterrato comes standard with the latest version of LDVI, Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics, which features specific STRADA, SPORT and RALLY drive mode calibrations. The latter is made for low-grip situations, brought to the Huracán for the first time.

It rides on exclusive 19-inch wheels, wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler AT002 tires: 235/40 R19 in front, 285/40 R19 in back. Making room for this setup is the lifted suspension, resting 44-millimeters (1.73-inches) higher than a Huracán EVO. Front track width has been broadened by 30-millimeters (1.18-inches), with rear track growing by 34-millimeters (1.34-inches). Behind the aforementioned wheels and tires are beefy six-piston and four-piston brakes, forward and aft respectively.

The body is largely the same, though aluminum underbody protection has been added upfront, along with reinforced sills, a new rear diffuser and sturdier wheel arches. The Huracán’s rear hood air intake is still there, bringing in fresh air on dusty trails.

The cabin is outfitted with exclusive Alcantara Verda Sterrato upholstery. The “Human Machine Interface” (HMI) features updated graphics and special driving features, including a first-ever inclinometer with pitch and roll indicators, a compass, geographic coordinate and steering angle indicators. And along with the Amazon Alexa features and Lamborghini UNICA app, a new telemetry system can even sync up to your Apple Watch to measure heart rate and sync it with onboard data recording.

The 2023 Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato will be available February 2023, with 1499 units up for grabs. We recently had a chance to take the 2023 Urus Performante out on the dirt, and if that’s any indication of what the Sterrato can do, we suspect buyers (if they ever do take it rallying, even if ever so lightly) will have an absolute blast.
