Following an initial reveal last fall, Volkswagen has released more photos and details of its all-new 8th generation Golf. The car was to be shown publicly at next week's now canceled Geneva International Motor Show. The gas-fueled 2021 Golf GTI was to be presented alongside its hybrid and diesel versions. The later versions are VW’s latest moves to keep the iconic Golf name relevant in a changing automotive landscape. With a more modern yet instantly recognizable exterior shape, and a decidedly high tech interior, the new Golf promises enhanced performance and functionality. The revamped plug-in hybrid Golf GTE is clearly designed for performance with the same 245-HP rating as the GTI, yet has an increased electric driving range of about 37 miles. The new diesel Golf GTD is rated at 200 HP. The interior marks the biggest change for Golf in modern memory with a pair of 10-inch displays now dominating its still otherwise extremely efficient dash. The 2021 VW Golf is expected to go on sale in North America this summer, initially in GTI configuration.
